just thought it was high time i paid tribute to
one of my all time favourite band.
it's not well known here in France and tho' i'm only 29,i was lucky my father has always been a freak of music and i took advantage of his huge collection of records.
among them;5 albums that changed my life forever.same band.at least the name was the same.

simply outstanding stuff.Never heard any kind of music like that since.
some say sophisticated(too much!!??) i would just say Great in any ways.
i feel so lucky i got in touch with their sound at an early age although my friends at school would not quite understand what was so attractive about it.i felt like i had found the ultimate music.
words just can't describe the effect that music has on me.IMO,it's just a perfect blend of every popular styles of music in avery tasty and intelligent fashion.

and the musicians,man!!!those guys (Fagen and becker)would know exactly who they wanted to play on each track for the best result possible.
i feel fortunate i've been exposed to such talent through the best vehicle possible.MUSIC.
there's no better way to appreciate a musician's talent than when the music is great.


finally i got to see 'em on stage in Paris 4 years ago.what a thrill!!!
i even got to attend the soundcheck as my girlfriend at that time and i,snuck in the venue and sat down in the shadow so nobody would notice us.
great memories.

Gotta love The Dan! My favorite albums of theirs are these:
Aja (worth the price for Steve Gadd on the title track alone! not to mention Purdie on "Home At Last")
Alive In America (Dennis is great on here, as is Peter Erskine, who is absolutely perfect on the tracks he plays. Just wish there were more P.E. tracks on it, but it's a great one to check out)

I would doubt you could find a drummer that didn't like Steely Dan in some shape or form. Monumental donation to modern music. There is a website that hosts their new CD. You have to see the video clip where the girl in the cab doesn't know what a "Steely Dan" means in england. One of those precious moments!!

I love the Aja album, Goucho, the stuff Donald did for the movie "Heavy Metal", Katy Lied, Bodhisatvha live.... oh theres sooo many!!

I feel as you do... Steely has been one of my major influences thru the years and always wanted to be in a band with that "type" of influence. So lo and behold.... I auditioned for a band called "Tribeca" last week. Here's their website. Listen to Hueponica and 2 days after.

ok,it's not an allan holdsworth's gig,what i mean is that maybe a lot of drummers could play those songs,but make 'em groove is another ball game.
